Since I sometimes find it hard to say anything helpful, inspirational, or profound, I figured I'd just offer a preview of the 2nd book in my YA trilogy. The first book THE DOORWAY: OTHER WORLD can be found on Amazon. The Kendle download is only $1.49.
The doorway: Night stalkers is tentatively scheduled to be published in the fall of 2013. CHAPTER 1 She didn’t know where she was. She figured she must be in the tree house because she could see her mom and little brother, Brent, down below her. Her mom looked frantic as if she were trying to find something really important. Or, maybe someone. Perhaps it was her. She had been gone a long time. Had she been out the entire night? She couldn’t remember. Maybe it had been more than one night. Where was Brainy and Thumper? They should be here to help her explain to her mom what had happened. But what did happen? This also she couldn’t remember. She looked behind her to see if she could spot Brainy or Thumper. Before her was only a gray fog that shifted up and down and from side to side. She couldn’t see anything else. One thing she felt, though she couldn’t see, was the feeling that she was moving. Not on her own power. Something, or someone, was moving her. She turned back to her mom and brother. Where was her dad? She could only recall pictures of him. Oh yes, now she remembered. He had died in a car accident when she was just an infant. That was a long time ago. Why hadn’t her mom remarried? She had to think a minute before remembering what her mother had said. She said she could never find it in her heart to love another man the way she had loved her dad. She thought that was sweet of her mom, but she couldn’t ever imagine feeling that way about anyone herself. They looked up at the tree house. She was sure they would see her, but after a moment they looked away. She yelled at them as they walked away. They couldn’t hear her. Then she saw something. Something terrible. A scorpion the size of small car was heading toward them.
