Frank Guerder, a writer of supernatural tales, is at a book signing promoting his new book when he is approached by an older man with an unusual request. Frank, who just wants to finish the signing and move on, reluctantly agrees to talk to him once the book signing is over. After the last book is signed Frank steps over to the table where the man is waiting. The man tells him that he is from a small town called Green Corners. Recently three children have disappeared. After a thorough investigation, the sheriff concluded that they must have boarded a train that has been passing through Green Corners for the last few weeks. The problem is trains haven’t passed thru Green Corners in years. It should be an impossibility. Nearly half the railroad tracks have been removed. The sheriff suspects that it must be a ghost train. Since the writer’s books indicate that he has experience with apparitions the sheriff sent the man to ask for Frank’s help. Frank initially declines but his agent, Carla Brimstone, talks him into it sighting the great publicity he would get. Once in Green Corners Frank realizes that he must take a perilous journey to find and rescue the children. But what he later finds is a mystery beyond the children’s disappearance.
